| George W. Schutte, 88, of New Canaan, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Norwalk Hospital.
Born June 28, 1921, in Haddam, CT, he was the son of the late Julias & Ethel Brainard Schutte. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in World War II. Based in Bermuda and assigned to the USS Ranger, he was a Gunners mate 1st class and a anti aircraft gunnery instructor. He was a plumbing and heating contractor for 45 years and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Schutte is survived by his wife Harriet Weed Schutte of New Canaan, his two daughters, Valerie Blasius and Janet Schutte, both of New Canaan. His son Paul Schutte of Centreville, VA , 3 grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday January 22, 2010 at St. Thomas More Church in Darien at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan.
