Our History

For over 100 years, Hoyt Funeral Home has been committed to offering personalized, professional and dignified service to the families of New Canaan and its surrounding towns. We strive to make the services we offer personalized and meaningful. We respect your family's decisions and your religious, ethnic, and economic needs.

Owner, Tom Cicalese, began his career as a funeral director at Hoyt at the age of 18. After working for the Hoyt family for seven years, he purchased the home with a partner who has since retired. After 47 years of continuous service, Tom and his staff are as dedicated as ever to delivering funeral and cremation services at the highest level. Hoyt's gracious atmosphere and facilities provide a comforting, home-like setting for sharing memories and paying tribute to loved ones.

In 2016 & 2017, Johnson Consulting recognized Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan as being in the top twenty funeral homes in the nation for excellence in customer service.

In an effort to constantly improve all facets of service, the Hoyt staff regularly attends continuing education programs and seminars. These programs keep us informed of current changes in local, state and federal rules and regulations. We are available to answer questions regarding funerals, cremations or pre-arrangements, or to provide additional resources you may need.

Hoyt proudly supports numerous local organizations. We have first-hand knowledge of the importance of these organizations in all of our lives. At Hoyt, we believe one of our most important roles is to find ways to make our community better for all of us who call it home.
